About Me
With youth on his side and the world at his fingertips, Eyal Berger has graced the centerstage of hair with a career unmatched in length and global presence by his contemporaries. Born in New York, but spending most of his young adulthood in Israel, he was encouraged to focus on his passion for hair, honing the craft that would later become his career. Cutting the hair of classmates, and collecting a handful of satisfied customers, Eyal was given the green light to enroll in beauty school before he had finished secondary school.
By seventeen, he had his own chair at a salon. For the next five years, he built upon his foundational experience and portfolio. He worked in Tel Aviv, then trained at Vidal Sassoon in London. With total creative license and the respect of those above him, Eyal was often allowed to direct brand shoots according to his vision. At twenty-two, he returned to Israel and won a photoshoot competition for L’Oréal, teaching advanced education at Tel Aviv’s renowned Michel Mercier Academy all the while. A turn around in his obligatory military service, due to an injured hand, allowed time for reflection for the young stylist, who finally decided to renew his U.S. passport and set out to build his career in his birthplace of New York City.
Hungry for the hustle one can only find in “the city that never sleeps,” Eyal began working at Valery Joseph the day after he landed. The environment was foreign, challenging him to conform to the more traditional cuts and styles of his Upper East and Upper West side clientele. He soon mastered the traditional style demands of New York financiers and real estates professionals, but was pleasantly surprised when the world of trends and social media came together, promoting the demand for choppy and wavy styles. It was here, Eyal found he exceeded clients expectations most, while satisfying his own craving for creative license.
Helping his clients feel their best is Eyal’s true passion. He mastered tape in extensions under the supervision of Valery Jospeh’s wife and quickly became the gatekeeper to every woman’s best kept confidence secret. Fulfilling a look that maintained a natural sense of beauty, Eyal’s work with hair focuses on accentuating and flattering his clients rather than overpowering them. Strongly maintaining the motto: “We just wish to add to what nature has already given them,” Eyal has transformed the hair of women who wish to add that extra “oomph” as well as those with low hair count looking for fullness and volume. Eyal’s extensions are known to bring his client’s locks to perfection and their self esteem to the maximum
Now present in both Valery Joseph’s Manhattan salons as well as their Bridgehampton summer pop-up, Eyal’s version of hairstyling has become well known and highly sought after. His clientele has collected over time, with many well known members of New York society relying on his styling and vision. Coming up upon ten years as a stylist in the Valery family, his gratitude for his home team is palpable. Eyal remains an evolving stylist abreast of a chic aesthetic and trendy rhythm, and with the support and love of Valery’s salon, he is excited to see what the future holds in collaborations and expansion.
